How do I clean Talisi menstrual cups when I’m not at home?
Planning a
trip soon? Are you a 9-5’er wondering how you can empty, clean and replace your
menstrual cup while you’re at work? Here’s how you can clean your cups whenever
you are not at home.
- Toilet paper and drinkable water:
Simply empty your cup into the toilet bowl, rinse with drinkable water (as many
times as you can) and wipe with toilet paper. Please ensure that the suction
holes are completely free from gunk while cleaning. You can do this by filling
the cup with water and squeezing the base and body of the cup to force water
through the air holes.
- Single use menstrual cup wipes:
Menstrual cup wipes can be procured (especially portable ones) and carried in
your purse. These can be used to clean your cups after emptying them.
- Menstrual cup soap and drinkable
water: You can dispense some of your menstrual cup soap into a portable and
sterile bottle and carry it with you in your purse. This can be used for
washing your cups while you aren’t at home.
- Plain old drinkable water: If you
have none of the above at your disposal, just use plain old drinkable water to
wash your cup. When you get home, you can wash it properly with your menstrual
soap or soak it in boiling water for a minute or two if you would be more
comfortable with that.
Most Talisi menstrual cup users find it easier and more convenient to carry a “menstrual bag” or “red-day bag’’ with them. In this little bag you can put a small container containing your menstrual cup soap, cup wipes, and anything else you think you would need while you are away from home. Remember to avoid using toilet soaps, especially those in public toilets when washing your cup. If this is the only available option, please stick to drinkable water.
