Can the Talisi menstrual cup disappear inside of me or get stuck?
Can Talisi
cups get stuck inside of me?
Yes, your
menstrual cup can get stuck, though this doesn’t happen often, once you have
mastered how to insert and remove your cup. If you are having a hard time with
removing your cup, please see below and FAQ number 2 for guidance on how to
remove it.
Can the
Talisi menstrual cup disappear inside of me?
No, the
Talisi menstrual cup cannot disappear inside you. All menstrual cups in fact
have no other way to go but down and out of you. This is because the cervix is
located at the end of your vaginal canal. The cervical opening is pin-sized and
only admits sperm (which actually swim upwards and in) through it.
Here’s a
brief summary on what to do if you can’t locate your cup or you feel it is
stuck inside of you.
Breathe and
try to stay calm. Being nervous doesn’t help much as it makes you fidgety and
tenses up your whole body (including your pelvic floor area) making it
difficult for you to easily access your vagina.
Do not be
worried if you find it hard to reach the cup, it’s not lost and won’t be going
anywhere. Gently tense your abdominal muscles and pelvic floor muscles as if
trying to move a bowel. You can do this while standing in the shower with your
legs apart, squatting or sitting on the toilet seat. With this, you would be
able to reach the cup. Pinch its bottom to release the suction seal and then
gently remove it.
If for any
reason you still aren’t able to locate your menstrual cup, try to part your
legs while squatting. With a mirror, see if you can identify the base of the
cup. If this doesn’t help, get someone you trust and with clean hands to help
you gently locate the cup. And if this still doesn’t help, chances are that you
are yet to insert your cup into your vagina!
