Can Talisi menstrual cups be worn if I have heavy periods?
Yes, they
can. Talisi menstrual cups can be worn regardless of whether you have light or
heavy periods. Menstrual cups are a more preferable option for people who have
heavy periods as leakages and stains are better preventable with cups (if they
are worn correctly and emptied when necessary). As menstrual cups are capable
of holding a bigger volume of blood, you have more time in between
emptying/changing them than you would when wearing a tampon or sanitary pad.
Here are a
few things to know and do if you have heavier periods.
- Master your emptying time: If you
have heavier periods, knowing when to change your cups is important. As there
is almost no indicator to inform you when your cup is almost filled up, you may
need to check and empty your cups every 3 to 4 hours. After doing this for one
or two menstrual periods, you would be able to estimate how for long you would
need to wear your cup before emptying it.
- Master your fit: For everyone, but
more so for those who have heavier periods, ensuring you are wearing the right
fit of cup for you is important.
- Choose cups with a higher
capacity: Selecting our bigger sized Talisi cups (with a higher capacity)
ensures that you can wear the cups for a while before having to empty and
replace them. This also accommodates blood clots if you usually pass them
during your period. Please note that more important than the capacity of your cup,
is the fit. So, ensure you have the perfect fit for you with the highest
capacity.
- Wear your cups correctly: Not
wearing your cup correctly guarantees that it would start leaking either
immediately or after a while. If you have heavy periods, leakages are more
common when your cup doesn’t create the required suction seal.
