For how long can Talisi menstrual cups be worn?
Talisi
menstrual cups can be worn for up to 12 hours (in someone who loses about 30 to
60ml of blood in each cycle). After 12 hours, they should be emptied, rinsed
and replaced. For people with heavier cycles, a more frequent emptying of the
cup is required.
If you are
considering switching from using sanitary pads or tampons to cups, it is
important to note that when compared with sanitary pads and tampons, cups hold
about five times more blood than pads and tampons. This estimate should help
you calculate for how long your cups should be left in before emptying them.
What if you
forget to take out your cup after 12 hours? If this happens, take it out as
soon as you remember. Talisi menstrual cups do not encourage growth of bacteria
the way tampons or sanitary pads do. However, changing them is still important.
Wondering
how to know exactly when your cup needs to be emptied, before it starts
leaking? It takes practice. While it might take person A 12 hours, person B may
need to empty her cup every 6 hours. If you have ever used a sanitary pad or
tampon and you had to change every two hours, it’s likely that you’d need to
empty your cup every 8 - 10 hours.
If you have
never used a sanitary pad or tampon before, meaning, this is your first time
being on your period...firstly, congratulations! To understand how often you
would need to empty your cups is quite easy. After four hours, take out the cup
and see how much blood is in it, empty and replace it. If your cup isn’t half filled
up after four hours, you can extend the next emptying to 8 hours. Do this until
you have a good mastery of how long you would need to empty your cups on
different days of your period.
